Christian Cowan SS’27

Christian Cowan pays homage to Hollywood Sirens and Marylin Monroe

Christian Cowan is one of my favorite designs because of his risk taking themes, glamour, theatrical performances and iconic designs. He loves to showcase and elevate women’s wear, in a way that is seductively romantic.

I’ve had the pleasure of attending two of his shows and they have been back to back hits. This season specifically with revamped old Hollywood glamour.

The show took place at The Glasshouse on 12th avenue and just with a few seconds to spare, I arrived just as the show began. Sitting front row, next to Grammy Award winning singer Lizzo, I was filled with excitement with the star studded row beside and across from me. Stars such as Yung Miami, Victoria Monet, Lucy Freyer, Anna Van Patten, Rei Ami, Jenna Lyons and Jordan Chiles.

Once the show began, Cowan once again didn’t disappoint. The theme was clear, Old Hollywood; each silhouettes with sculpted waists, corseting, and seducing femininity oozing as each model slowly slinked down the runway.

The collection was made up of silk gowns, layering lingerie, plunging backs, deep necklines, lace and adding textiles to give it just that much complexity.

For Spring Summer 2027, old Hollywood glamour is back; Reworking the iconic style codes of actresses from decades past. Think sculpted silhouettes, crystal details, archival references, and dramatic evening looks—all playing with the idea of glamour as something you can create, own, and make completely your own
